Who We Serve

H.E.R.S. is a barrier-free, low-cost recreational sports program serving girls ages 6–14 empowering them through Health, Empowerment, Respect, and Sports while helping every girl grow, develop, believe, and play. All programs are just $10!

Our Approach

At Can Play we offer inclusive, accessible, low-cost recreational sports programs for all kids. We create supportive environments that foster growth, confidence, and belonging. Through partnerships, we expand access and enhance our programs, ensuring every child can play without limits. Our programs are built on four core principles: Grow, Develop, Believe, and Play, helping kids build confidence, learn new skills, form friendships, and discover their full potential in a safe environment.

Our Programmimg

H.E.R.S. (Health, Empowerment, Respect, Sports) offers a dedicated, barrier-free program for girls ages 6–14, creating a supportive environment where girls of all abilities can grow alongside their peers. Through low-cost access to recreational sports and mentorship from coaches, H.E.R.S. helps girls build confidence, develop skills, and form meaningful connections.

Goals of the program

Create a safe, supportive space where every girl feels she belongs
Build confidence through positive coaching and encouragement
Develop fundamental sports skills at each participant’s level
Foster friendships and social connection through team play
Promote physical activity, health, and overall well-being
Empower girls to believe in themselves—on and off the field
Provide access to sports for those facing financial or social barriers

Our Programs

After School Programs

We are excited to partner with Des Moines Public Schools and West Des Moines Public Schools to offer fun recreational activities and play-based programming on "early out" days.

H.E.R.S Programming Ages 6-14

Our girls league incorporates our H.E.R.S. principles—Health, Empowerment, Respect, and Sports—to provide recreational opportunities for girls ages 6-14 Each program includes weekly skill development and game play, guided by coach mentors who emphasize confidence, teamwork, and personal growth. All programs are just $10.
